I promise to keep this blog up!

I always have good intentions of blogging. Blogging seems to be so enjoyable and a way for me to put down my thoughts about life. I decided that I should map the journey of me becoming a doula. It has been something that I've wanted to do for awhile. I think the fact that my dad passed away before he was fully accredited to work as a councilor for Drug and Alcohol Addiction has made me realize even more that there is no putting off what I want in life till tomorrow. By blogging my journey it will give me an outlet to put down my thoughts and feelings about my learning process. It will be awesome to look back at to see how far I will come.

I do know that Windsor is over-saturated with doulas at the moment but I know I can find my niche somewhere. A lot of my friends from University are starting to have children so that could be an arena that I break into. I would also like to work with young mothers. My sister was a teen mother and had a wonderful doula. I think all teens need to start off with a doula that can help them bring their child into the world as well as educate them about nursing and other gentle parenting approaches.

At the moment I think I would like to train as a CAPPA doula and do a dual certification of labour and postlabour doula. Eventually becoming a lactation consultant. Right now I'm just looking for the books I need to read. Windsor certainly does not have the books readily available to someone looking for books about birthing. I will most likely have to order most books from Chapters/Amazon etc.
